Term 1 of the Online Conversation Course beagn in November 2020 with ten students – Slovenia(1), Greece(2), Italy(2) and Germany(5)– and finishes with just one drop out. 🙁 In total, students read eleven articles (almost fourteen thousand words of English), completed eleven gap-fill exercises–an average of fifteen new words per week (total 165), watched eleven videos (over 250 minutes listening) took part in a minimum of fifty-five paired discussions (5-7 mins each) and gained fluency practise in the following: working from home, the purpose of learning, favourite books, paintings and favourite artists, memories of school, Christmas, bucket list, gardening and food, fears and phobias, children’s books, and hopes for the future.
For our final week week, students have been asked to consider five recordings, two books and a luxury item that they would take if they were to be cast away on a desert island. The listening exercise is Tom Hank’s deeply personal and moving Desert Island Discs appearance in 2016
